​The Orange Hub is an intercultural and interagency community hub for arts, recreation, wellness and learning.

The Grindstone Theatre Society is thrilled to take on the management of the Orange Hub Theatres in partnership with the City of Edmonton.  Grindstone aims to provide affordable and accessible spaces for the non-profit sector, while also supporting opportunities that help connect people and build vibrant local communities through two newly renovated performance spaces. Whether you are an individual, arts collective, community group, business, local or touring organization, Grindstone Theatre Society encourages booking applications from all interested parties.

Performance Theatre Amenities

The performance theatre is a 350 seat proscenium-arch theatre with an eight-foot apron in front of the main curtain. The theatre has a full complement of drapery available with plenty of room backstage and sound reinforcement equipment. A loading dock is available with easy backstage access for large equipment and scenery. Included in the rental of the space are two dressing rooms located 1 floor below the theatre, a green room, a lobby with an atrium, and a box office. Additional spaces may be rented to suit your event.​​

BLACK BOX THEATRE

Blackbox Theatre Amenities

The Black Box Theatre is equipped with a full LED colour-changing lighting grid, theatrical sound system and holds a full complement of drapery. Rental of the configurable venue includes the lobby area and greenroom, additional spaces may be rented to suit your event. The Black Box is located on the 1st floor east wing. A loading dock and freight elevator are available for easy access for large equipment and scenery. 

 

Permitted Use : Audio recording, Meeting, Screening, Reading, Video/Film Shoot, Photo Shoot, Audition, Class, Special Event, Rehearsal & Performance

BOOKING STEPS:

01. 

REVIEW MATERIALS

Start by reviewing the Theatre User Guide to make sure you are prepared and informed about booking the theatre amenities.

02. 

SUBMIT APPLICATION

Fill out our online Bookings Application Form. 

03. 

APPLICATION REVIEW

Your event application will be reviewed by the Bookings and Operations Manager to see if your event dates are available.

04. 

 RENTAL AGREEMENT

Once your application is reviewed and approved we will send you a rental agreement which will include a quote for the requested rental dates and any required staffing and services to suit the needs of your event.

05. 

 SIGNING & CONFIRMATION

Return the signed Booking Rental Agreement along with proof of $2 million liability insurance with Grindstone Theatre Society and The City of Edmonton listed as an additional insured, and a non-refundable deposit of 50% of the total rental fees to secure your event date.
