Location: Grindstone Theatre, Edmonton, AB
Contract: Paid - Performances are paid, rehearsals are unpaid
Rehearsal Start: Sunday evening rehearsals starting end of November
Performances: Ongoing weekly performances / special engagements / potential touring dates

 

About the Show

​

The 11 O’Clock Number is Grindstone Theatre’s award-winning improvised musical comedy — a fully realized musical created on the spot every night based on audience suggestions. Since 2013, the ensemble has created over 1,000 brand-new musicals, performing at festivals and theatres across Canada and abroad.

Each performance features an ensemble of improvisers and musicians who collaborate in real time to create characters, songs, choreography, and storylines — culminating in a spontaneous, hilarious musical comedies that exists for one night only.

 

Who We’re Looking For

​

We’re seeking strong improvisers, singers, and musical theatre performers who thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced, and playful environment.

We encourage performers of all backgrounds, genders, and identities to apply.

Ideal candidates will have:

  • Experience in improvisation, musical theatre, or both
     

  • Strong vocal ability and confidence in creating songs on the spot
     

  • Excellent listening, teamwork, and storytelling skills
     

  • A sense of humour and openness to taking creative risks
     

 

Audition Details

​

Auditions will be conducted in 90 minute group sessions which will include:

  • Warm up exercises and short form improv games

  • Improvising songs in a group and solo setting

  • Improv scene work and character work

  • Live improv accompanist(s)

ASSOCIATE PRODUCER - IMPROV / VARIETY / CORPORATE

Job Description:

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Associate Producer to join our team and play a crucial role in the planning, execution, and management of our improv and variety productions and our corporate entertainment. The Associate Producer will work closely with the Artistic Director and other team members to oversee marketing, sales, sponsorship, contracts, and all general management responsibilities to ensure the success of each performance.

ORANGE HUB BOX OFFICE & FRONT OF HOUSE SUPERVISORS

Job Description:

​

We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Box Office and Front of House Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day operations of the box office at The Orange Hub Theatres. The Box Office Supervisor will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and effective sale of tickets, providing exceptional customer service to patrons, managing box office staff, and will be the primary team member responsible for providing FOH  support for all performances and events.

ORANGE HUB TICKET SCANNERS

Job Description:

​

We are seeking personable, customer-focused individuals to provide front of house support in scanning tickets before performances. Reporting to the Front of House Supervisor, Ticket Scanners will be in charge of scanning tickets,  assisting with lobby set up / clean up, and providing exceptional customer service to patrons.

Job Description:

We are seeking a customer-focused Concession Server/Bartender at The Orange Hub Theatres.  The Concession Staff play a supporting role in providing an exceptional experience to each and every guest.  They are responsible for the efficient and effective sale of beverages and snacks, coat check duties, and maintaining a safe working environment, while providing exceptional customer service to patrons.

Job Description:

​

We are seeking personable, customer-focused individuals to provide front of house support. Reporting to the Front of House Supervisor, Ushers will be in charge of monitoring the lobby/theatre spaces, opening/closing the theatre doors, ensuring liquor is kept within designated areas, assisting patrons with limited mobility, assisting with lobby set up / clean up, and providing exceptional customer service to patrons.
