Ready to take your burlesque skills to the next level? In this 8-week course, you'll develop your own original burlesque act from the first spark of an idea to the final curtain call! We'll explore everything that goes into creating a performance, including concept development, music selection, costume design, stage makeup, props, different burlesque movement styles, and incorporating comedy into your act. You'll also get hands-on with pastie construction and tassel twirling, plus learn the backstage etiquette and practical skills every performer needs. Through guided exercises, creative development, and work shopping sessions, you'll build your act with support from your fellow performers. We'll finish with a full dress rehearsal before taking the stage at Grindstone Theatre for a student showcase, where you'll have the opportunity to share your creation with a live audience! This course is for performers ready to explore their creativity, develop their own artistic voice, and experience the process of bringing a burlesque act to life. Come with ideas, come with questions, or come with absolutely no idea what your act will be yet. We'll figure it out together! Some previous burlesque experience is recommended. (Students may take 101 and 102 simultaneously)
