Service Description
For actors, clowns, and performers Audience participation… some people love it, some people love to hate it, but it’s more and more common in all theatrical genres: drama, improv, comedy, drag, burlesque, and everything in-between. Increasingly, performers are expected to interact directly with audience members in the lobby, during the performance, or both, but few programs teach practical skills needed to create amazing audience experiences. With games, discussions and light physical activities, this fun workshop will demystify audience interaction to empower the performer to engage with humour, confidence and respect. This workshop is for performers of any level of experience who use (or want to use) audience participation in their work – actors, improvisers, clowns, variety performers, dancers, burlesque artists, drag artists, etc. We will have fun and: Learn practical rules and tools Practice listening and connecting with audience Talk about ethics, implicit, and explicit consent Discuss common mistakes Learn ways to get the audience on your side Good to know! Participants should expect some light physical/movement activity. Wear: clothes and indoor shoes your can move in (e.g. runners) We will have a one hour lunch break Bring: water bottle, notebook/way to take notes Prerequisite: Some public performance experience
