IMPROV 300:
PERFORMANCE

This class takes the skills learned in Grindstone's Improv 100 through 204 levels, and directs them through a broader spectrum of performance. Now that you've learned what the basics of scene work and long form are, we'll examine how your choices affect the scene, the characters and your audience. This class attempts to dissect the behaviours and tactics we use, to fully understand their impact, and thereby navigate them more clearly, while at the same time, steeping you even deeper in your choices for richer characters, relationships & narratives. Through focused, short form scene work, directed around ensemble collaboration and solo performance, and a highlight on honesty, we'll take these building blocks and cobble them into longer structures, building more investment and reward. This class aims to heighten your stagecraft, as well as your understanding of how the improviser and the audience can be mined for greater investment, trust and creativity. Whether it be feeling the beats with a larger group and creating a stronger hive mind, or the strength needed to take the stage all by oneself we'll learn & play in a supportive environment that allows for failure, celebration and fun!
