ACTING 203: ACTING FOR FILM

This class will follow the process from sides on a page to collaborating with fellow cast and crew to deliver compelling material in film and television. The work completed in this class  is intended to make participants active operatives in their careers. From technical acting specifics unique to working with a camera, to making bold, specific choices, to developing materials and discipline to make you competitive with agencies and casting directors. Participants learn how to sculpt the career they desire by building on their greatest strengths. Acting 203 will take students through the film process step by step from audition notice to film festival red carpet.

PLEASE NOTE: This class charges an equipment fee of $25. This fee is used to cover the cost of the filming equipment, the camera operator and final editing. 

 

DISCLAIMER: Acting for Film is intended for students who have completed previous acting training. The Grindstone Theatre School reserves the right to decline registration for students who do not meet the required skill base for this course at the discretion of the instructor and the Theatre School’s review of the audition self-tapes. It is highly recommended that new students complete Acting 101 before enrolling in 200 and 300-level courses.

 DATES:  This class will return in 2025/26! 

 LOCATION:  Grindstone Studio (9562 82 Ave NW) 

 INSTRUCTOR:  TBD 

 PREREQUISITE:  Acting 101 or equivalent 

 SHOWCASE:  The showcase will take place within 3 weeks after the last day of classes. 

 COST:  Early Bird - $425+GST  |  Lazy Bird - $475+GST 

TO REGISTER IN THIS CLASS:

1. Click the yellow button titled "AUDITION SIDES". Review the side (script) and rehearse it until you are ready to film your self tape.

2. Review the video and instructions on how to make a self tape. 

3. Film a self tape audition on your cellphone. 

4. Submit that tape to jpepin@grindstonetheatre.ca as  soon as possible to secure your spot in the class. 

 

These tapes will be reviewed by the instructor and the Education Team prior to the classes start date. This class is first come first serve, so only the first 14 submitted videos will be accepted into the class. The Education Team will be in touch with your results within 14 days of your submission. Students will be invoiced for the cost of the class once they are accepted.
